What to expect:
We will meet on Zoom four (4) Monday evenings in March:
March 2nd, 5:30-8:30pm
March 9th, 5:30-8:30pm
March 16th, 5:30-8:30pm
March 23rd, 5:30-8:30pm
Participants are asked to attend as many live Zoom sessions as possible. However, sessions will be recorded in the event you need to miss.
Each week, we will cover one of the following topics:
What is trauma?
The hopefulness of neuroplasticity
The Adverse Childhood Experiences Study (ACES) and its implications
Overview of the three (3) TBRI Principles: Connecting, Empowering, and Correcting
Evidence-based strategies to provide trauma healing for children and teens
Owning our stories and triggers: Mindful awareness of what we as caregivers bring to the table
Engagement strategies to disarm fear-based behaviors and increase trust and connection
Practical strategies for teaching social and life stills
Building trauma-informed environments
Sensory preferences and regulation strategies
Body-based strategies to regulate bodies and emotions
Proactive strategies: teaching toward skills we expect children and teens to know
Responsive strategies: responding effectively to behaviors
